Objective

KM4Dev is a community of international development practitioners who are interested in knowledge management and knowledge sharing issues and approaches aimed to promote development issues world-wide.  The KM4Dev platform has currently 1,707 members, nearly 120 members from the Himalayas and 32 from the Andes.

The HimalAndes Initiative (HI) established by experts from the Himalayas and the Andes to promote cooperation and information sharing between two of the most important mountain regions in the world.

Experts from HI are partnering with KM4Dev to organize this focussed forum to address some most important critical issues confronted by both regions: water management in the context of climate change.

This forum will be an open debate involving all interested parties, focusing on practical solutions. It will open participation, inviting case studies from experts in diverse sectors of the Andes and the Himalayas, including the private sector, academia, and international organisations.

This “focused conversation” hosted by KM4Dev, will constitute a bridge across mountain ecosystems to share knowledge, lessons learned and case studies on innovative ways to manage water resources safely and effectively, and adapt to climate changes in the Andes and the Himalayas.

The discussion will be facilitated by a small committee of experts, during the course of three weeks. Experts from both regions, including experts from IFAD will be asked to submit contributions and selected case studies to enrich the discussion. The forum will be open for debate to all KM4Dev members during this period. The case studies and comments will be updated on the Wiki during the forum.  The overall summary will be compiled by Dr. Alejandro Camino, founder of HimalAndes initiative.

Structure: This discussion will be focused on the following topic: “Knowledge Sharing (KS) around water management innovations in mountain regions"
